Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called on corporate companies to channel their CSR funds toward key sectors like education and healthcare, stressing that such investments should be seen as contributions to society rather than expenses.
During a meeting with representatives from several leading companies, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring that CSR spending delivers meaningful outcomes. He encouraged companies to align their contributions with the state’s priority areas, including education, healthcare, and water resource management.
The Chief Minister pointed out that investing in education is essentially an investment in the future. He noted that a large share of students are concentrated in Hyderabad, making it crucial to provide them with quality learning opportunities and skills that meet global standards.
At the same time, he clarified that companies are free to choose sectors of their interest while utilizing CSR funds. Apart from education and healthcare, areas such as skill development, heritage conservation, and environmental protection were also suggested for corporate participation.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that companies benefit from local infrastructure and resources, and therefore should allocate a significant portion of their CSR funds for development in the same regions. To streamline the process, the government has appointed a special officer to coordinate CSR activities effectively.
Several companies have already come forward with financial commitments. Contributions have been pledged for education initiatives, reflecting growing corporate interest in supporting social development projects in the state.
Corporate representatives appreciated the initiative, noting that such direct engagement provides clarity and direction for CSR utilization. The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of strengthening collaboration between the government and private sector to drive inclusive growth across Telangana.
