Fresh political discussions have emerged around Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief YS Sharmila, with reports suggesting that the party leadership is seriously considering her name for a Rajya Sabha seat. Sources indicate that internal discussions have gained momentum as Congress prepares to fill upcoming seats from Karnataka.

The move is believed to be linked to an earlier assurance reportedly made by Rahul Gandhi. Party leaders at the national level are said to be working on plans to send Sharmila to the Upper House through the Karnataka quota. Her possible entry into the Rajya Sabha has now become a major talking point in political circles.

Congress is expected to secure three Rajya Sabha seats from Karnataka, and several names are under consideration. Senior Karnataka leaders BK Hariprasad and Rajeev Gowda are among those being discussed, while national level leaders including Pawan Khera and Supriya Shrinate are also part of the wider list under review.

Alongside these names, YS Sharmila’s inclusion has attracted significant attention, particularly because of her role as Andhra Pradesh Congress chief. Party observers believe her candidature could carry political importance beyond state boundaries.

Meanwhile, another political development has added interest to the Rajya Sabha calculations. The term of former Andhra Pradesh quota Rajya Sabha member Parimal Nathwani has ended, and reports suggest he could contest from Jharkhand once again.

Sources also indicate that Nathwani, who had earlier won as an independent candidate from Jharkhand, may now explore a possible contest with support from the Bharatiya Janata Party. At the same time, changing political numbers in Jharkhand continue to create challenges for Congress in its efforts to secure additional Upper House representation.
