Counting Day Begins Across Five States as Race for Power Intensifies

In Tamil Nadu, the assembly consists of 234 seats, and any party or alliance needs at least 118 seats to claim a majority. Meanwhile, in Puducherry, which has a smaller assembly of 30 seats, the magic figure stands at 16.

West Bengal, one of the most closely watched states, has a total of 294 seats, with 148 required to take control of the assembly. In Kerala, parties must secure 71 out of 140 seats to achieve a majority.

Assam also plays a crucial role in this electoral cycle, with its 126 seat assembly requiring 64 seats to form the government. As counting progresses, political fortunes across these states will soon become clear, shaping the next phase of governance in these regions.
