A major road accident shook Jogulamba Gadwal district in Telangana in the early hours of the morning when a state run RTC bus met with a serious mishap. The bus, which was traveling from Hyderabad towards Anantapur, lost control near Itikyala Padu and overturned off the road, leaving several passengers injured.
The accident occurred before dawn when most of the passengers were fast asleep. In a matter of seconds, the bus rolled over, leaving people trapped inside as the roof and windows were badly damaged. Panic and cries for help filled the area as injured passengers struggled to escape from the wreckage.
Local residents and motorists passing through the stretch rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts. Several passengers sustained fractures to their legs and arms, while others suffered heavy bleeding, making the scene distressing. Emergency teams arrived soon after, and the injured were shifted in ambulances to the Government Hospital in Kurnool for treatment. Doctors said the condition of a few victims remains critical.
Police officials, who reached the accident site promptly, began an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding or the driver possibly dozing off in the early morning hours may have led to the crash. Authorities have registered a case and are examining all angles to determine the exact cause.
RTC senior officials have also taken note of the incident and assured that all necessary medical assistance is being provided to the injured passengers. Further action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
