A major step in Andhra Pradesh’s technology journey is set to unfold as the foundation stone for a Google AI data center will be laid in Visakhapatnam. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to inaugurate the project, which is expected to redefine the state’s IT landscape.
With an estimated investment of around one point three five lakh crore rupees, the project stands among the largest technology initiatives in the region. The data center is expected to play a key role in placing Visakhapatnam prominently on the global IT map.
The facility is being designed with high capacity infrastructure and is expected to operate with more than one gigawatt of power. To support its development, the government has allocated land across multiple locations including Rambilli in Anakapalli district, Tharluvada, and Adavivaram.
Officials believe the project will significantly boost digital infrastructure in the state, especially with the integration of advanced artificial intelligence technologies. The move is also expected to attract further investments into the region.
The construction is planned to be completed in phases, with full operations targeted by 2028. Once operational, the data center is likely to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for people in and around Visakhapatnam.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of transforming North Andhra into a major global technology hub, with the data center serving as a strong foundation for future growth.
