Confusion surrounding the Holi holiday has finally been cleared. The Education Department has officially declared March 03 as a holiday for schools across the state, putting an end to uncertainty among students and parents.

Initially, the academic calendar had listed Holi leave for March 04. However, as celebrations were widely scheduled for Tuesday March 03, doubts began to grow about whether schools would function on the festival day. Responding to the concerns, Education Department Director Naveen Nicolas confirmed that March 03 would be observed as the official Holi holiday for all schools.

The uncertainty this year was largely due to the rare overlap of Holi and a lunar eclipse. According to astrologers and scholars, the lunar eclipse is occurring on March 03, which led to debates about when Holika Dahan and Holi celebrations should be held. Many families were unsure about the correct day for rituals and festivities.

Following traditional guidance, Holika Dahan was performed on March 02, the day before the eclipse, in Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana. Bonfires lit up neighborhoods as people followed customary practices ahead of the eclipse.

While some religious experts suggested celebrating Holi after the eclipse, effectively on March 04, the government decision stands clear. Schools will remain closed today March 03 in observance of Holi, bringing relief and clarity to students and parents alike.
