Travel between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam is set to become quicker and more convenient with the opening of the Khammam Devarapalli Greenfield Highway. The new route is already operational and is expected to ease inter state movement between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
One of the biggest advantages of this highway is the significant reduction in travel distance and time. Commuters can now save around 80 kilometers and nearly two hours, making long distance journeys smoother and less tiring.
In a move to encourage usage, authorities have announced that vehicles can use the highway without paying toll for the first 15 days. Toll collection will begin later as per standard regulations, but the initial free period is expected to attract a large number of users.
The highway has been developed with modern infrastructure and safety in mind. It currently operates as a four lane road with plans for future expansion. Regular entry and exit points, emergency access gaps, and advanced monitoring systems have been included to ensure safe travel.
To assist drivers, clear signboards have been installed at important junctions, helping motorists navigate the new route without confusion. This is particularly useful for those using the highway for the first time.
Beyond improving travel, the project is expected to boost economic activity in the Khammam region. Better connectivity is likely to support farmers, traders, and industries by improving access to markets and logistics networks.
With faster connectivity, improved infrastructure, and initial toll free access, the Khammam Devarapalli Highway marks a major step forward in transforming road travel between the two Telugu states.
