The number of Indian nationals who have lost their lives in Kuwait has risen to eight, as tensions continue to escalate across the West Asia region. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the latest casualty, stating that an Indian citizen was killed in a recent attack in Kuwait.
Officials said that one Indian national still remains missing, while the total number of deaths has increased from earlier reports. The situation has raised serious concerns about the safety of Indian citizens living and working in the region.
Additional Secretary Aseem R Mahajan expressed condolences to the affected family and assured that the Indian mission in Kuwait is coordinating closely with local authorities. Efforts are underway to support the family and ensure the early return of the mortal remains.
The ministry highlighted that the ongoing conflict has impacted multiple countries in the region, with incidents reported in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other areas. Earlier, an Indian national had also lost his life in Riyadh following recent attacks.
Despite the challenging conditions, evacuation and travel support efforts are continuing. Since late February, around 5.5 lakh passengers have returned to India through special arrangements and limited flight operations.
Authorities are also facilitating movement through alternative routes due to airspace restrictions in several countries. Indian missions across West Asia are working round the clock, operating helplines and providing regular updates to citizens.
The government reiterated that the safety and welfare of Indians abroad remains its top priority. It also called for restraint and dialogue to ease tensions and prevent further escalation in the region.
Officials added that support is being extended not only for travel but also for students and workers affected by the situation, including those facing disruptions in exams and employment.
As the conflict continues, India remains actively engaged in diplomatic efforts while ensuring that its citizens receive timely assistance and protection.
