Renowned industrialist Dr G N Naidu passed away in Hyderabad on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. His demise has drawn attention across business and academic circles, marking the end of a long and impactful journey.

Dr Naidu was widely known as the chairman and managing director of the Regency Group, where he played a key role in expanding industrial and educational initiatives. Over the years, he established a strong presence in multiple sectors, earning recognition for both leadership and vision.

Born with a background in civil engineering, he completed his graduation from an engineering college in Anantapur. He began his career in public service, working as a civil engineer in the Andhra Pradesh government between 1964 and 1971. Later, he pursued higher studies at University of Roorkee, further strengthening his academic foundation.

In 1983, he founded Regency Ceramics Limited, which became a significant milestone in his professional life. Beyond industry, he was deeply involved in education, serving as a guiding force behind several institutions under the Regency banner.

His contributions were recognized through multiple honours. The Andhra Pradesh government presented him with the Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya award in 2006 for his service to engineering. He was also awarded a gold medal by the Indian Red Cross Society in 2009 for supporting humanitarian causes. In 2003, he received an honorary doctorate in business management from Bircham University.

Dr Naidu leaves behind a legacy that spans industry, education and social service, remembered by many as a leader who combined technical knowledge with a commitment to community development.
