Cricket fans across the country are eagerly waiting for the announcement of the IPL 2026 schedule and the Board of Control for Cricket in India is preparing to release the first phase of the tournament plan soon.

According to BCCI officials the initial IPL 2026 schedule is expected to be announced on March 12. However the entire tournament calendar will not be released at once as the board plans to reveal only the first phase of matches initially.

The IPL governing council has already finalized the list of matches for the opening stage of the competition. These matches are expected to cover the first twenty days of the tournament while the remaining fixtures will be announced later.

One of the main reasons for the delay in releasing the full IPL 2026 schedule is the upcoming assembly elections in several states. Elections are scheduled in West Bengal Assam and Tamil Nadu during the same period and these states also host IPL teams and matches.

Due to security arrangements and logistical considerations the BCCI is coordinating with authorities before finalizing the complete schedule. Officials want to ensure that match venues and dates do not conflict with election related security requirements.

Although the official start date has not yet been confirmed reports suggest that the IPL 2026 season could begin on March 28. The final match of the tournament is expected to be held on May 31.
