In a shocking development, Amita Singh Tomar, who once gained national attention as a KBC winner, has been arrested in connection with a major flood relief fund scam.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in funds meant for flood victims in Madhya Pradesh. Investigations revealed that around Rs 2.5 crore was diverted into fake accounts, raising serious concerns over misuse of public money.

Tomar, who was serving as a tehsildar, was named as an accused in the case. Following the allegations, she had been absconding and did not report for duty for a long period.

Authorities had been tracking her movements, and she was finally arrested from her residence in Gwalior by a police team led by senior officials. After her arrest, she was produced before a court and later sent to jail.

Efforts to secure anticipatory bail had failed earlier, as both the High Court and the Supreme Court denied relief in the case.

Officials confirmed that departmental action has also been taken, and she has been removed from her position.

Amita Singh Tomar had earlier appeared in a popular quiz show where she won a significant cash prize, bringing her into the public spotlight. The latest developments, however, have drawn attention for entirely different reasons.
