New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a historic milestone by becoming the longest serving head of government in India. With a combined tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister, Modi has completed 8931 days in office, surpassing the previous record held by former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.
Modi journey in governance began in October 2001 when he took charge as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He continued in the role through multiple terms, building a strong political base before stepping onto the national stage. In 2014, he assumed office as Prime Minister for the first time and has since remained a dominant figure in Indian politics.
He further strengthened his position by winning three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024. With this achievement, Modi became the first non Congress leader to complete two full terms and return for a third consecutive term as Prime Minister.
Beyond governance, Modi has also expanded his reach in the digital space. His presence across online platforms continues to grow, with his official YouTube channel recently crossing 30 million subscribers, placing him among the most followed global leaders.
Amid rising tensions in West Asia, the Prime Minister also chaired a high level meeting with key Union ministers to assess the impact on India. Discussions focused on ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential resources such as oil, gas, electricity, and fertilizers.
The government has taken proactive steps to maintain energy security and protect both consumers and industries from global disruptions. Measures include increasing LPG allocations and facilitating new PNG connections, especially for critical sectors like hospitals and educational institutions.
Officials stated that India is closely monitoring global developments while working to maintain stability in supply chains. The meeting highlighted the government commitment to preparedness and timely response in the face of international uncertainties, even as Modi continues to set new benchmarks in political leadership.
