New Menu Introduced in Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi Centres to Improve Children Nutrition
The Andhra Pradesh government has revised the Anganwadi nutrition menu for children by introducing egg fried rice and boiled chickpeas while replacing pulihora and updating Balaamrutham categories for infants.

- Anganwadi centres in Andhra Pradesh will now serve egg fried rice twice a week to children.
- Boiled chickpeas will also be provided along with egg fried rice in the Anganwadi menu.
- Balaamrutham nutrition has been divided into junior and senior categories for infants.
The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to update the nutrition menu provided to children at Anganwadi centres across the state. The move is aimed at improving the quality of food served to young children and ensuring they receive better nutritional support during their early years.
As part of the revised plan, egg fried rice will now be served twice a week in Anganwadi centres. On the same days, children will also receive boiled chickpeas along with the meal. Officials believe the addition of eggs and chickpeas will help provide more protein and essential nutrients.
The new food items have been introduced in place of pulihora, which was earlier part of the Anganwadi meal menu. The change is expected to make the meals more nutritious and appealing for children attending the centres.
Along with the menu changes, the government has also updated the Balaamrutham nutrition programme. Under the revised system, Balaamrutham has been divided into two categories based on the age of the child.
Junior Balaamrutham will be provided to infants aged between seven months and twelve months. Meanwhile, Senior Balaamrutham is designed for children between thirteen months and thirty six months.
Officials say the revised nutrition plan is intended to better address the dietary needs of children at different stages of growth while strengthening the Anganwadi nutrition programme across Andhra Pradesh.
