- VB G Ram G Law starts from July 1
- New rural employment scheme replaces MGNREGA
- Rural families to receive 125 days employment
The Central Government has announced the implementation of a new rural employment law named Viksit Bharat Guarantee Per Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission Grameen from July 1 across the country. The scheme will replace the existing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee programme and is being referred to in short as the VB G Ram G Law.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the new system aims to strengthen livelihood security for rural families while creating more employment opportunities in villages. Under the new law, eligible rural households will receive 125 days of guaranteed wage employment every year.
Officials stated that the programme has been designed not only to provide jobs but also to improve rural infrastructure and increase income opportunities for workers living in villages. The government believes the new initiative will support long term economic stability in rural regions.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Centre clarified that existing eKYC linked MGNREGA job cards will remain valid until new rural employment guarantee cards are issued. Authorities have also instructed workers without job cards to register at their respective gram panchayats as early as possible.
State governments have reportedly been directed to speed up the registration process so that rural labourers can be brought under the new framework without delay. The Centre is also holding discussions with states and Union Territories regarding implementation procedures and operational guidelines.
The Rural Development Department said detailed guidelines are being prepared on wage payments, work allocation systems, grievance redressal mechanisms and administrative expenditure. Officials believe the law could improve financial conditions for rural families while boosting development activities in village areas.
The introduction of the VB G Ram G Law is being seen as one of the major policy changes in the rural employment sector in recent years, with expectations that it may expand both job security and infrastructure growth across rural India.
