The Union Home Ministry has announced the final deadline for submitting nominations for the Padma Awards 2027, one of India’s highest civilian honours. Nominations and recommendations must be submitted by July thirty one for awards that will be announced on Republic Day next year.

The nomination process, which began on March fifteen, is being conducted entirely online through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. Authorities have made it clear that no offline submissions will be accepted, streamlining the process and ensuring transparency.

In a move to broaden participation, the government has encouraged citizens to nominate themselves or recommend deserving individuals. The initiative aims to transform the awards into true People’s Padma by recognizing grassroots contributors and unsung heroes across the country.

Applicants are required to submit a detailed citation of up to eight hundred words outlining the nominee’s exceptional achievements and service. The Centre has specifically urged the public to identify and nominate individuals from underrepresented sections, including women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and persons with disabilities.

While most government employees are not eligible for these honours, exceptions have been made for doctors and scientists. The Padma Awards, instituted in nineteen fifty four, include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, and are announced annually on Republic Day, celebrating excellence and service in various fields.
