Narendra modi landed in Tel Aviv on a two day official visit to Israel, receiving an unusually warm welcome that underlined the close ties between the two nations. Breaking traditional protocol, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally arrived at the airport along with his wife Sara to receive the Indian leader.
Prime Minister Modi was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour on arrival, marking the importance Israel attached to the visit. Officials said the gesture reflected the growing friendship and mutual respect between India and Israel at the highest political level.
This visit comes nine years after Modi’s earlier Israel tour in 2017. During the current trip, he is set to create history by becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset. The address is expected to focus on shared democratic values and expanding cooperation.
As part of the schedule, Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog and visit Jerusalem, a city of deep religious and historical significance. Discussions are expected to cover defence technology innovation agriculture water management and regional security.
Officials described the visit as a new chapter in India Israel relations, noting that it would further strengthen strategic partnerships and people to people ties between the two countries.
