The Telangana government has announced a major decision aimed at improving the welfare of village level staff and strengthening local administration. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure that nearly 50,000 Panchayat employees across the state receive their salaries on the first day of every month without delay.

During a review meeting with senior officials from the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department, the Chief Minister said that employees working at the grassroots level should receive salaries on time just like senior administrative officials. He stressed that staff who directly work with people in villages deserve equal importance and timely payments.

To avoid delays in salary disbursement, the state government has decided to release a special fund of Rs 50 crore every month. The Chief Minister also instructed officials to make sure outsourcing and contract employees working under different government departments receive their salaries on the first day of each month. He made it clear that delays in salary payments would not be tolerated.

The government also took a significant step toward increasing the financial independence of village Panchayats. Officials were directed to remove the earlier rule that required Panchayat generated income to be deposited into treasury accounts. Amendments to the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act 2018 will be considered so that local bodies can directly maintain their own revenue in bank accounts.

Changes have also been announced in the pension distribution process. Instead of using the postal system, pensions will now be directly transferred into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. According to the government, this move is expected to improve transparency and help identify ineligible beneficiaries more effectively.

Officials were also asked to use Aadhaar details, voter identity records, and socioeconomic survey data for streamlining pension systems. The government has instructed departments to give first priority to granting pensions to eligible individuals.

Minister Seethakka, MP Vem Narender Reddy, and senior Panchayat Raj officials also attended the review meeting.
