Hyderabad is set to witness a major transformation in its sports infrastructure as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced an ambitious plan to upgrade Gachibowli Stadium into a world class facility. The project aims to position the city as a leading sports hub in India.
During a high level meeting with representatives of the Telangana Sports Hub, the Chief Minister reviewed plans to modernize the stadium and create a comprehensive development roadmap. Prominent personalities and officials participated in the discussions, focusing on long term growth of sports in the state.
As part of the plan, the foundation stone for the upgraded stadium will be laid on June 2, marking Telangana Formation Day. Authorities are working on finalizing a detailed action plan ahead of the launch.
The proposed upgrade includes several advanced features designed to meet international standards. Facilities such as a helipad for direct access, modern infrastructure for athletes, and enhanced viewing experiences for spectators are part of the blueprint.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that the vision goes beyond infrastructure, aiming to prepare Hyderabad for hosting global sporting events, including competitions at the Olympic level. The project is expected to elevate the city’s reputation in the international sports arena.
Officials also indicated that there will be no financial constraints for the development, with expert architects already engaged in the design process. The focus remains on delivering a high quality facility that can serve athletes and audiences alike.
The initiative is likely to encourage greater participation in sports, especially among youth and urban professionals. With improved facilities and global standards, Hyderabad is expected to emerge as a strong contender in India’s sports ecosystem.
