Revanth Reddy Targets Politics Over Women Reservation Bill

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy strongly objected to what he described as political moves surrounding the Women Reservation Bill and called on the central government to take immediate action. He demanded a special session of Parliament to introduce and implement the bill aimed at providing 33 percent reservation for women in legislative bodies. He also stated that the INDIA alliance would extend complete support to the proposal.
Speaking on the occasion of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary, Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes to his statue at Tank Bund in Hyderabad. During his address, he praised Rajiv Gandhi for laying the foundation for women’s reservation in local bodies and said his vision played a major role in strengthening women’s participation in governance.
The Chief Minister said that the spirit and ideals of Rajiv Gandhi should now be carried forward by ensuring reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies without further delay. He stressed that women should receive equal opportunities in decision making and public representation.
Revanth Reddy also remembered Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution to India’s technological growth, saying his leadership introduced modern technology and telecommunications that transformed the country’s future. He noted that economic reforms initiated during that period helped India move toward progress and development.
Highlighting the connection between Telangana and the Gandhi family, Revanth Reddy said the relationship was more than political and had remained strong over several decades. He added that Telangana became a reality because of Sonia Gandhi’s historic decision and said people of the state would always remember that contribution.
He further stated that the current government in Telangana continues to move forward with welfare initiatives inspired by the ideals and vision of Rajiv Gandhi.
