In a significant boost to farmers ahead of the Ugadi festival, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has released the first phase of Rythu Bharosa funds, providing much needed financial support to the agricultural community.
The announcement was made during his visit to Narmetta village in Siddipet district, where he formally initiated the fund release. As part of the first installment, the government allocated around Rs 3590 crore aimed at benefiting approximately 24.32 lakh farmers who own up to one acre of land, along with other eligible beneficiaries.
Since Sunday was a bank holiday, officials confirmed that the funds will start reflecting in farmers’ bank accounts from Monday through direct transfers. Overall, the scheme is expected to benefit nearly 73 lakh farmers across the state.
The government has also laid out a clear schedule for subsequent payments. The second phase will see the release of Rs 2650 crore after about 20 days, followed by a third phase of Rs 2760 crore. Authorities have assured that the entire Rs 9000 crore under the scheme will be disbursed within 45 days in a phased manner.
Officials noted that around 24.32 lakh farmers in the state own less than one acre of land, while nearly 48.68 lakh farmers have larger holdings. The assistance will be extended to all eligible farmers in a structured and prioritized manner.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated a modern oil palm factory built over 62 acres at a cost of Rs 300 crore. He also laid the foundation for an additional palm oil refinery plant worth Rs 80 crore. These projects are expected to improve market access for oil palm farmers and create new employment opportunities in the region.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector, Revanth Reddy stated that the focus is not only on financial aid but also on building infrastructure that supports farmers in the long term. He added that initiatives like loan waivers and investment support schemes are aimed at helping farmers overcome financial stress and achieve sustainable growth.
