South Central Railway has achieved a major milestone in the financial year 2025 26 by generating 13575 crore through freight operations, marking its best ever performance. The announcement was made by General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava during a media briefing in Secunderabad.
The zone recorded its highest cargo movement in history, transporting 147.871 million tonnes during the year. This growth played a key role in boosting overall revenue and improving operational efficiency across the network.
Passenger services also showed strong performance, with revenue reaching 6235.37 crore. Compared to the previous year, the number of passengers increased significantly, rising from 263.36 million to 286.44 million in 2025 26.
Officials highlighted that continuous infrastructure development contributed to these results. A total of 194.57 kilometres of track was added, including new lines, doubling, and tripling works, strengthening connectivity and capacity within the zone.
In addition to track expansion, the railway completed construction of 72 road under bridges and 27 road over bridges during the financial year. These projects are expected to improve safety and reduce congestion across key routes.
The zone also reported notable revenue from scrap sales, earning 650.30 crore, reflecting efficient resource management.
With consistent growth in freight, passenger traffic, and infrastructure, South Central Railway has set a new benchmark in performance, surpassing its previous record of 13535 crore achieved in the 2024 25 financial year.
