- Telangana voter list revision starts from June 25
- House to house voter survey planned across the state
- Final voter list to be published on October 1
The Election Commission of India has initiated a Special Intensive Revision process for electoral rolls in Telangana as part of a nationwide voter verification exercise aimed at ensuring transparency and accuracy in voter records.
State Chief Electoral Officer officials released the detailed schedule for the revision programme on Thursday. The exercise will be conducted with October 1 2026 fixed as the qualifying date for voter eligibility under the Representation of the People Act 1950.
According to officials, the large scale revision process will include polling station restructuring, house to house verification, and correction of voter records across the state.
Preparatory arrangements for the programme will begin from June 15 and continue until July 24. During this period, authorities will reorganize polling station locations and boundaries based on voter population and local convenience.
Booth Level Officers will play a major role in the field verification process. From June 25 to July 24, officials will visit every household to collect and verify voter details. Pre filled forms will also be distributed directly to residents during the survey.
Officials clarified that if houses remain locked during visits, Booth Level Officers will return at least three times to complete verification. Citizens will also have the option to download and submit voter registration forms online.
The state has appointed nearly thirty five thousand nine hundred eighty five Booth Level Officers to verify details of more than three crore thirty nine lakh voters. Political parties will also participate in the process through more than twenty five thousand Booth Level Agents.
The draft voter list will be published on July 31 after completion of polling station restructuring and verification work. Election officials described this stage as one of the most important phases of the entire revision exercise.
Citizens will get time until August 30 to raise objections, request corrections, or apply for fresh voter registrations. Authorities will examine complaints, conduct hearings, verify documents, and finalize necessary corrections during this period.
New voters must submit Form 6 for registration, while Form 8 will be used for correction of personal details or change of address.
Officials stated that all objections and pending claims would be resolved before September 28. The final voter list is scheduled to be officially published on October 1.
The Election Commission also confirmed that Telangana is part of the third phase of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision programme covering sixteen states and three Union Territories.
Election authorities said the exercise is designed to improve the credibility of voter records and ensure eligible citizens are properly included in the electoral system ahead of future elections.
