With a steady surge in pilgrim arrivals, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has begun planning a major expansion of accommodation and a comprehensive overhaul of services in Tirumala and Tirupati.
During a high level review, Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra noted that the current lodging capacity is no longer sufficient to meet growing demand. He directed officials to prepare a detailed expansion strategy, with special focus on strengthening accommodation facilities in Tirupati.
The review also highlighted the need to improve overall pilgrim experience. Officials have been instructed to introduce QR code based systems across temples to streamline services and ensure better accessibility. Plans are underway to formalise feedback collection from devotees to continuously refine service delivery.
To tackle the summer heat, authorities were asked to ensure regular water sprinkling across key areas in Tirumala including the four mada streets and temple surroundings. Sanitation and maintenance also received attention, with directions issued for immediate clearance of accumulated solid waste.
Infrastructure upgrades form a key part of the plan. The Pilgrims Amenities Complex and Asthana Mandapams are set for modernisation, while additional storage facilities for essential materials like ghee will be constructed to support temple operations.
The administration is also looking to strengthen the Srivari Seva initiative by expanding its reach to other temples under TTD. A structured plan is being considered to utilise voluntary services from professionals such as doctors, engineers, teachers, and software experts.
Apart from accommodation and services, the review covered several other areas including Kalyana Mandapams, the Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel, healthcare services at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, and improvements in darshan management systems.
With these measures, TTD aims to handle the increasing number of pilgrims more efficiently while enhancing comfort, accessibility, and overall experience for devotees visiting Tirumala and Tirupati.
