The Indian film industry is mourning the sudden loss of veteran producer RB Choudary, who passed away at the age of 76 in a tragic road accident in Udaipur on Tuesday. Known for shaping several successful films across multiple languages, his death has left a deep void in South Indian cinema.
RB Choudary, whose full name was Ratanlal Bhagatram Choudary, was born in 1950 in Chennai. Before entering the film world, he was involved in businesses such as steel and jewellery. However, his passion for cinema led him to establish a strong presence in film production, eventually becoming one of the most respected names in the industry.
He began his journey in films with the Malayalam movie Aadipapam in 1988. Soon after, he made his mark in Tamil cinema with Puthu Vasantham in 1990, which was later remade in Telugu. Over the years, he became synonymous with family oriented entertainers that resonated with audiences.
Under his banner Super Good Films, he produced numerous hits including Suryavamsam, Raja, Seenu, Nuvvu Vastavani, Ninne Premistha, Priyamaina Neeku, Shivaramaraju, Gorintaku, and Sankranti. His films were known for strong emotional storytelling and wide family appeal. He also contributed as a presenter for successful projects like Shubhakankshalu.
RB Choudary was also widely recognized for his success with remake films in Telugu cinema, consistently delivering box office successes. His production houses, including Super Good Productions and Mega Super Good Films, became trusted names for quality entertainment.
He is survived by his sons, including actor Jiiva, known for Rangam, and Ramesh, who appeared in Vidyarthi, along with two other sons. His last major project Makutam, starring Vishal, had recently been launched as his 99th film.
RB Choudary’s contribution to Indian cinema remains unforgettable, with a career that spanned decades and touched millions of viewers across languages.
