A new attraction has arrived at Vizag Zoo as a female black panther was officially introduced into its enclosure, drawing attention from wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists alike. The addition is part of an animal exchange programme aimed at improving biodiversity and strengthening conservation efforts.

The black panther was brought from Assam State Zoo earlier this year and has now been released into a specially prepared habitat. Officials say the move reflects the zoo’s ongoing commitment to enhance both animal care and public awareness about wildlife protection.

Alongside this development, the zoo also unveiled upgraded enclosures for several animals including sloth bears, wolves, jackals and red necked wallabies. These improvements are designed to create a more natural and comfortable environment, helping animals adapt better while offering visitors a richer experience.

Senior forest officials attended the event and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting conservation and education. They noted that modern enclosures play a key role in ensuring animal well being while also supporting breeding and research activities.

Adding a personal touch to the occasion, the black panther has been adopted by a young animal lover, making her one of the youngest contributors to the zoo’s adoption programme. The financial support from her family will help in the upkeep and care of the animal for the coming year.

With new additions and improved facilities, Vizag Zoo continues to evolve as a hub for wildlife conservation, aiming to balance public engagement with responsible animal care.
