A Wanaparthy heatwave alert has been issued as district authorities prepare for extreme weather conditions expected over the coming week.
District Collector Adarsh Surabhi cautioned that temperatures could rise up to 45 degrees, increasing the risk of heat related illnesses. He urged residents to take preventive steps and avoid unnecessary exposure during peak hours.
During a review meeting with officials, detailed instructions were given to ensure public safety. Authorities have been directed to set up water shelters across municipalities and mandal centers to provide relief to people.
Special focus has been placed on ensuring the availability of drinking water and ORS packets in offices hospitals schools colleges and hostels. These measures aim to prevent dehydration and heatstroke.
Workers under employment guarantee schemes have also been given attention, with officials instructed to arrange shaded areas and cool drinking water at work sites to protect them from harsh conditions.
Residents have been advised to carry water bottles when stepping outside and to remain cautious during daytime heat.
In addition to heatwave preparedness, officials were also instructed to actively implement ongoing road safety awareness programmes as part of public welfare initiatives.
