In a significant political development, YSRCP leader Pudi Srihari was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in Bengaluru in connection with a morphing case involving Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The arrest came shortly after the Supreme Court refused to grant him bail, intensifying the situation.
Authorities allege that Srihari shared a morphed image of the Chief Minister on social media, which led to the registration of a case against him. He was serving as a social media incharge for the YSRCP, making the issue politically sensitive.
Earlier, a court in Kuppam had declined to remand him, offering temporary relief. However, the High Court later suspended that order, creating legal hurdles for Srihari. Seeking protection from arrest, he approached the Supreme Court, but the plea did not yield the relief he expected.
With the Supreme Court directing that the matter be resolved at the High Court level, police moved swiftly. Srihari was taken into custody in Bengaluru and is currently being transported to Kuppam for further legal proceedings. The arrest has sparked discussions across political circles, drawing attention to the growing scrutiny of social media content in politics.
