Kakinada (TSIT): Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy along with the state DGP K V Rajendranath Reddy inaugurated through virtual mode the first Andhra Pradesh Tourist police station at the holy shrine of Padagaya Kukkuteswera swamy temple in Pithapuram town, 20 kms from here on Tuesday.
Kakinada District Superintendent of Police M. Ravindranath Babu along with other police officials participated in the inaugural programme from Kakinada.
The SP in his address said the Police station, was set up for looking after the safety of the tourists who throng the holy Sakthi Peetham, Padagaya from nook and corner of the district and also from various states across the country.
`Police outposts (kiosks) would also be set up at all the tourists spots and centers to attend to the complaints received from the tourists and other visitors. These outposts would be linked to the local police stations and work round the clock.
Six police personnel including women police were deployed at the Tourist police station and are provided with a vehicle and communication facility to reach the spots from where the complaints received’ he said.
Ravindranath Babu said that the opening of tourist police station and also the tourist police kiosks would mark the heralding of a new era in police department functioning ensuring tourists safety.
Since the tourism gaining momentum in the state after a gap of two years of Covid pandemic havoc and the government was keen on tourist development, the tourist policing policy would prove to be a boon to the people’ he added.
Additional SP Administration P Srinivas, Special Branch DSP M. Ambika Prasad, Kakinada DSP Padala Muralikrishna Reddy, Pithapuram Circle Inspector YRK Srinivas, Kakinada District communication Inspector Santhosh and Sub-Inspectors of Pithapuram circle attended the virtual inaugural programme.
