In a move aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched a new mobile application called Farmer Chat to assist farmers with timely and reliable support.
Developed with the support of Digital Green Trust, the app is designed to act like a personal farming advisor, helping cultivators make informed decisions throughout the crop cycle.
The platform offers guidance not only on crop cultivation but also on allied activities such as dairy farming poultry rearing and fisheries, making it a one stop solution for rural livelihoods.
Farmers can use the app to identify crop diseases and pests by accessing easy to understand recommendations on preventive measures and treatment options.
Special focus has been placed on small and marginal farmers. The app provides scientific suggestions that encourage low investment practices while aiming for improved productivity and better yields.
Officials say the information available on Farmer Chat is verified by agricultural experts, reducing the risk of farmers relying on untested or misleading advice.
By combining technology with field level knowledge, the AP government hopes the app will bridge the gap between experts and farmers and promote sustainable farming practices across the state.
The initiative reflects the government’s effort to bring digital innovation closer to villages and ensure that farmers receive dependable guidance at the right time.
