The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to roll out two fresh welfare schemes aimed at strengthening DWCRA women across the state. The initiatives are part of the coalition government’s broader push to support women led households through affordable credit and financial inclusion.
The new schemes titled NTR Vidya Lakshmi and NTR Kalyana Lakshmi will be formally launched in early March in connection with Women’s Day celebrations. Through these programmes DWCRA women will be eligible for loans of up to one lakh rupees at a nominal interest rate to meet education and marriage related expenses within their families.
Loans will be issued through the Stree Nidhi Bank with simple procedures and minimal documentation. Beneficiaries can repay the amount in easy instalments spread over four years making it accessible even for low income households. The government has earmarked significant funds to ensure smooth implementation without delays.
Eligibility will be limited to active DWCRA members who have completed at least six months in their groups. The schemes will be linked to biometric verification to ensure transparency and quick disbursal. Officials say the move will further strengthen self employment opportunities and reduce financial stress among rural women.
