- Land acquisition process to begin shortly.
- Project expected to boost regional development and jobs.
Telangana’s aviation map is set to expand further with the Centre granting approval to the master plan for the proposed Adilabad Airport. The decision is being seen as a significant step towards improving air connectivity and accelerating development in the northern parts of the state.
At present, Hyderabad’s Shamshabad Airport remains the only operational passenger airport in Telangana. While work is progressing on the Mamnoor Airport in Warangal, and approvals have already been secured for Ramagundam and Kothagudem airports, Adilabad has now joined the list with formal clearance from the Centre.
The approved master plan was released by Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh at his camp office in the presence of MLA Payal Shankar. Addressing the media, the MP said minor modifications to the plan may be made once aviation authorities begin on-ground assessments. He described the approval as a proud moment for the district and a long-awaited dream coming true for local residents.
According to officials, land acquisition for the airport will begin soon, clearing the path for construction activities. The project is expected to play a key role in boosting industrial growth, trade, and employment opportunities in the region. The state government is also exploring the identification of nearly 10,000 acres for an industrial park near the airport to support economic expansion.
The MP said the airport would serve as a historic milestone for Adilabad district, improving connectivity with other regions and offering fresh opportunities for businesses and youth. He added that sustained efforts were made to address public demand and that aviation authorities are expected to fast-track the remaining procedures in the coming days.
