A major fire scare broke out at Maitrivanam in Ameerpet, a well known hub for coaching institutes and student activity in Hyderabad. Flames and thick smoke suddenly emerged from the fourth floor of the Nilagiri Block, creating panic inside an institute where dozens of students were attending classes.
As smoke spread rapidly, students found themselves trapped and unable to use stairways to escape. Alerted by locals and fellow students, police and traffic personnel rushed to the spot without delay. Under the leadership of SR Traffic CI Sanjeev, officers launched an immediate rescue operation, turning the tense situation into a race against time.
Within nearly ten minutes, around 80 students were safely brought out. Some had to be guided down from the building walls as smoke filled the corridors, making movement inside extremely difficult. Crowds gathered below, ready to assist, holding clothes and positioning themselves to prevent any fall, while police coordinated the evacuation calmly.
Fire engines reached the location within fifteen minutes of the incident. Although the flames were still manageable, smoke had already spread widely. Firefighters worked for nearly half an hour to fully control the blaze, while police ensured no one remained inside the affected block. Officials later confirmed that there were no injuries and all students were safe.
Maitrivanam is one of the busiest areas in Ameerpet, housing shops, offices, and numerous coaching centers that attract students from across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The incident once again highlighted the importance of fire safety and quick emergency response, especially in densely populated educational zones, as authorities urged strict precautions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
