  • Telangana Cabinet meet focuses on budget.
  • Yasangi Rythu Bharosa funds likely soon.
  • Local body elections may be delayed.

A crucial Telangana Cabinet meeting is scheduled for today February 23 at 3 pm at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Revanth Reddy. The meeting is expected to take several important decisions covering agriculture employee welfare, urban infrastructure and the upcoming Assembly budget session.

One of the key items on the agenda is the release of Yasangi Rythu Bharosa funds, with the Cabinet likely to give a green signal for disbursal to farmers. Ministers will also deliberate on administrative approvals for the continuation of Devadula Package Three works, which are considered critical for irrigation support.

Budget planning will dominate the discussions as the government reviews the state’s financial position revenue projections and expenditure priorities. The Cabinet is expected to finalise dates for the Assembly budget session, which is likely to be held in the first week of March. Officials indicated that the government aims to secure legislative approval for the annual budget at the earliest.

Employee welfare is another major focus. The Cabinet is set to approve guidelines for a cashless medical treatment scheme for government employees, involving a 1.5 percent contribution from basic pay to the Employees Health Care Trust. Decisions on land allocation for residential schools DCCB buildings and other institutional infrastructure are also on the table.

Urban development issues including the Hyderabad Metro takeover progress, additional coaches, metro expansion plans and the Musi river rejuvenation project will be discussed in detail. The Cabinet may also clear the adjustment process of employees in the newly formed GHMC Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporations.

On the political front there are strong indications that MPTC and ZPTC local body elections will not be held immediately. With Assembly budget sessions board examinations and district level administrative training underway the government is inclined to conduct local elections only after these priorities are completed to ensure smooth governance.
