AIADMK Says No Talks with Vijay TVK Over Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026 Alliance

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has clarified that there have been no discussions so far with actor Vijay or his political party TVK regarding an alliance for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2026. His remarks come amid growing speculation about possible political partnerships ahead of the election.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Palaniswami firmly stated that neither the AIADMK nor its alliance partners had initiated talks with Vijay’s party. He made the statement when journalists asked whether the party was considering bringing TVK into the AIADMK led alliance.
Palaniswami explained that the party has not held any formal or informal discussions with Vijay or representatives of his political outfit. He reiterated that no such communication has taken place between AIADMK leaders and the party being referred to.
The AIADMK leader addressed the media after attending an Iftaar gathering in Chennai. During the interaction, he was accompanied by BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran and AMMK founder T T V Dhinakaran.
When asked whether more political parties could join the alliance ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2026, Palaniswami said there was a possibility of additional parties becoming part of the coalition.
