Amaravati: Several districts in Andhra Pradesh are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms today, according to the State Disaster Management Authority. The weather change is attributed to the impact of surface circulation and a trough influencing atmospheric conditions.
Officials have indicated that northern and coastal districts including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada may experience scattered showers along with lightning. Similar conditions are expected in East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, and Guntur districts.
In parts of Bapatla, Palnadu, Markapuram, Prakasam, and Nellore districts, light rainfall with thunderstorms is also likely at isolated locations. Authorities stated that rainfall intensity may vary from light to moderate across regions.
The department has issued safety advisories urging people to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity. Residents have been advised not to stay in open fields or exposed areas when lightning occurs.
People are also warned against taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms, as it can increase the risk of lightning strikes. Officials stressed the importance of staying indoors and following safety guidelines to avoid any untoward incidents.
