The central government has announced a major infrastructure boost for Telangana with plans for a new railway line between Dornakal and Gadwal. The survey for the 296 kilometer route has been successfully completed, paving the way for further approvals and development.
According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the proposed railway line will pass through key regions including Suryapet, Nalgonda, Kalwakurthy, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy. The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity across these districts and benefit thousands of passengers.
The announcement was made in response to a query in Parliament, where officials confirmed that the detailed project report will be prepared next. Once finalized, necessary approvals will be obtained in coordination with the Telangana government and central agencies.
In addition to this project, the survey for another railway line between Jadcherla and Nandyal has also been completed. This proposed route spans around 182 kilometers and is expected to enhance connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Officials acknowledged that some railway projects in the state have been delayed due to land acquisition challenges. However, the government has assured that pending works will be given priority and completed at the earliest.
The development comes as part of a broader push to strengthen railway infrastructure in Telangana. Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, 40 railway stations in the state are being modernized, with six already completed.
Authorities highlighted that improved facilities such as better waiting halls, lifts, escalators, and parking spaces are being introduced. The state has also achieved full electrification of railway lines and implemented advanced safety systems.
With new railway lines and ongoing upgrades, Telangana is set to witness improved connectivity and enhanced travel experience, marking a significant step forward in infrastructure development.
