Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has stated that electric vehicles will play a key role in the future of the state, highlighting ongoing efforts to promote clean energy and sustainable transport.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Chief Ministers, he explained that Telangana is actively encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles and expanding renewable energy generation to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
The state is also focusing on building a strong EV manufacturing ecosystem, including battery production and related infrastructure. To accelerate adoption, the government has introduced incentives such as full exemption on road tax and registration charges for electric vehicles.
One of the major initiatives underway is the conversion of over one lakh petrol and diesel autorickshaws into electric vehicles in Hyderabad through retrofitting. This step is expected to significantly reduce emissions in the city.
Alongside promoting EVs, the government is closely monitoring fuel supply and pricing. Officials are tracking stock levels regularly to ensure there are no disruptions in availability.
The Chief Minister also noted that strict action is being taken against misinformation related to fuel shortages, particularly content circulating on social media that creates unnecessary panic.
Essential services such as hospitals, schools, and welfare institutions are being given priority in the supply of commercial gas cylinders. The state has also set up monitoring systems and committees across districts to oversee fuel distribution and prevent black marketing.
With coordinated efforts and long term planning, Telangana aims to strengthen energy security while transitioning towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
