Tensions in the Middle East have sharply escalated as Israel came under a wave of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran in response to recent strikes. The attacks triggered widespread panic, with sirens sounding throughout the day in nearly 100 towns and cities across Israel.
Major urban centers including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa witnessed powerful explosions, while critical infrastructure was also targeted. In Beersheba, missiles struck the Neot Hovav industrial zone, hitting the ADAMA chemical facility and causing massive blasts followed by toxic gas leaks.
Authorities warned residents in affected areas to remain indoors and seal doors and windows as a precaution against hazardous fumes. In Haifa, an oil refinery was hit, leading to large scale fires that added to the growing crisis.
The coordinated assault involved Iran backed groups including Hezbollah in Lebanon and militia factions in Iraq, marking a significant escalation in regional hostilities. At the same time, Iran also launched attacks on US allied bases in countries such as Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE and Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that at least ten people were injured in an attack on a military base in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, retaliatory strikes by the United States and Israel continued deep inside Iran. Cities such as Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz were targeted in air raids, with reports suggesting heavy casualties and damage to key locations including a television office in Tehran and a university campus in Isfahan.
The ongoing exchange of attacks has pushed the region into a state of high alert, raising fears of a wider conflict as both sides intensify their military actions.
