A devastating industrial accident shook Chhattisgarh after a powerful explosion at a Vedanta Limited power plant claimed the lives of 13 workers and left many others injured.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a boiler tube inside the plant suddenly burst while workers were on duty. The explosion caused thick smoke to spread rapidly across the facility, creating panic among employees who rushed to escape, leading to chaos inside the premises.

Initial reports indicate that several workers died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries during treatment. At least 21 workers sustained serious injuries, with many in critical condition receiving medical care in hospitals in Raigarh.

Most of the victims are believed to be migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the vulnerability of laborers working in hazardous industrial environments. Authorities also fear that more workers may still be trapped under debris, and rescue operations are ongoing at the site.

Senior officials, including local police authorities, reached the spot soon after the incident to assess the situation and oversee relief measures. Emergency teams have been deployed to speed up rescue efforts and provide immediate assistance to the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. The government announced financial assistance of two lakh rupees for the families of the deceased and fifty thousand rupees for those injured.

Officials have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the explosion and fix accountability. Meanwhile, political reactions have intensified, with opposition leaders alleging negligence on the part of plant management and demanding higher compensation for victims.

As rescue operations continue, the incident has once again raised serious concerns about industrial safety standards and the need for stricter enforcement to prevent such tragedies in the future.
