The first phase of AP Census 2027 has commenced across Andhra Pradesh, marking a major shift toward a fully digital enumeration process for the first time. Officials described it as a significant step in modernizing one of the largest statistical exercises in the country.
The initial phase focuses on house listing and housing census, where detailed information about households and living conditions will be collected. Authorities have begun field level operations to ensure smooth execution across urban and rural regions.
In a notable development, the government has introduced a self enumeration option, allowing citizens to submit their own data digitally. This facility will be available for a limited period, giving people the flexibility to participate without waiting for officials to visit their homes.
At the same time, enumerators will continue door to door visits to collect data from households. Around 80 percent of the workforce for this task consists of village and ward secretariat staff, while the remaining personnel have been drawn from other government departments.
Officials have emphasized that all information provided during the census will remain secure and confidential. They have urged citizens to cooperate fully and ensure accurate data submission for effective planning and development.
The government has also issued a strict warning that providing false information or obstructing census duties could lead to criminal action. This measure aims to maintain the integrity and reliability of the data being collected.
With the rollout of digital tools and wider participation, the AP Census 2027 is expected to deliver more accurate and efficient results, supporting future policy decisions and development programs in the state.
