With summer travel demand expected to surge, Indian Railways has announced a large scale plan to operate special trains to ease passenger movement across the country.
A total of 908 special trains will be introduced to manage the seasonal rush, particularly during school holidays and festival periods when long distance travel increases significantly. The services will run between mid April and mid July, covering peak travel months.
To ensure smoother operations, these trains will collectively handle over eighteen thousand trips. A significant portion of these services has already been cleared, allowing passengers to begin planning their journeys in advance.
Authorities have also opened ticket bookings for these special services, enabling travelers to secure seats early and avoid last minute difficulties. The move is expected to reduce congestion on regular trains and improve overall travel experience.
Different railway zones will play a major role in operating these services. Some zones have been assigned a higher number of trips to cater to busy routes where passenger demand remains consistently high during the summer season.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to provide better connectivity, reduce waiting lists, and ensure that travelers can reach their destinations comfortably during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
With the introduction of these special trains, passengers can expect improved availability and a more convenient journey as railways prepare to handle the annual summer rush efficiently.
