The Telangana government has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family of RTC driver Kola Shankar Goud, who died after taking an extreme step amid ongoing unrest. Along with the ex gratia, officials confirmed that a job will be provided to one eligible member of his family.

The announcement was conveyed during the final rites of Shankar Goud, where revenue officials attended on behalf of the government and paid their respects. Local MLA Donthi Madhava Reddy also extended additional support by announcing financial aid of Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, the situation turned tense near the Narsampet depot when RTC union leaders attempted to bring the driver’s body to the depot premises to pay tributes. The move triggered a confrontation as police stepped in to control the gathering and prevent escalation.

Several political leaders, including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, expressed solidarity with the workers, further intensifying the situation. Scuffles broke out between groups, and police had to intervene to restore order in the area.

The incident has not only drawn attention to the hardships faced by RTC employees but has also sparked wider political reactions, even as the government moved quickly to extend support to the victim’s family.
