Amid growing instability in West Asia, the United Arab Emirates has reportedly enhanced its defence shield with the arrival of Israel’s advanced Iron Dome system. The move is seen as a significant step to counter increasing missile and drone threats in the region.
According to international media reports, the deployment came after the UAE faced difficulties intercepting certain incoming missiles during the early phase of recent hostilities. Despite having its own defence mechanisms in place, a few projectiles managed to breach the system, causing concern over the safety of critical infrastructure.
In response, the UAE is believed to have reached out to its allies for urgent support. Israel, stepping in as a strategic partner, reportedly supplied the Iron Dome system and also sent personnel to assist in its operation and deployment on the ground.
The decision is said to have followed a direct conversation between UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Soon after, Israeli defence forces were instructed to facilitate the transfer and setup of the system in the UAE.
Since its arrival, the Iron Dome has reportedly played a crucial role in strengthening the country’s aerial defence. Several incoming missiles targeting Abu Dhabi were successfully intercepted, offering a sense of relief and improved security in the region.
The development highlights the deepening defence cooperation between Israel and the UAE, especially during times of heightened geopolitical tension.
