The closing ceremony of the Andhra University centenary celebrations turned memorable with an engaging and thought provoking speech by filmmaker and alumnus Trivikram Srinivas. His words stood out as he connected deeply with students, blending humor, philosophy, and personal experiences.
Speaking before a gathering that included top leaders and dignitaries, Trivikram began on a light note, admitting that addressing such a large audience made him nervous. He said returning to his alma mater reminded him how the true value of the university became clear only after he had left its campus.
Reflecting on the idea of a university, he explained that it is a place where diverse thoughts come together and coexist. According to him, education is not about teaching something entirely new but about helping individuals see familiar things from a different perspective. He compared knowledge to a constant presence around us, waiting to be discovered through awareness.
Sharing his early days at the university, he recalled feeling overwhelmed by its vast campus and atmosphere. However, over time, he adapted and grew. Using a relatable example, he said that just like medicine may taste bitter but heals, and a hospital may feel uncomfortable but cures, the university experience too shapes individuals for the better despite initial challenges.
He encouraged students to understand that growth comes from interaction and acceptance. He stressed that coming together is the key to success, as students from different regions and cultures learn from each other within the campus environment.
Trivikram also revealed that although he joined the university to study nuclear physics, he found himself drawn more towards literature and writing. He shared that the institution helped him discover his true strengths and equipped him with the tools to pursue his passion.
Concluding his speech, he expressed hope that the university would continue to empower students with knowledge and confidence. Blessing the institution on its hundred year milestone, he wished Andhra University a long and successful future, leaving the audience with a sense of motivation and pride.
