Amid rising tensions in West Asia, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval visited the United Arab Emirates, underlining India’s focus on strengthening diplomatic and strategic coordination in the region. During his visit, Doval met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The discussions focused on key areas such as energy security, regional stability, and enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations. Officials highlighted that both sides exchanged views on evolving geopolitical developments and explored ways to deepen cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
The visit gains significance as it comes shortly after Doval’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia, indicating a series of high level engagements by India with major Gulf nations. The timing also coincides with ongoing disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, which have impacted global energy supplies and heightened regional concerns.
In recent months, India has maintained active diplomatic outreach with countries in the Gulf region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held multiple conversations with leaders from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other nations, while External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has also been in regular contact with his counterparts.
Earlier this month, Jaishankar visited the UAE and met its leadership, reaffirming the strength and transparency of bilateral ties despite challenging regional conditions. Doval’s visit is seen as a continuation of these efforts, aimed at ensuring stability and safeguarding India’s strategic interests in a sensitive geopolitical environment.
