A Vande Bharat Express traveling from Mumbai to Sholapur derailed near Pune station on Monday evening, causing concern among passengers. However, relief followed quickly as officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

According to railway authorities, the derailment occurred around seven thirty in the evening when the train was entering Pune station. A wheel assembly of the fourth coach slipped off the track near a diamond crossing, a junction where tracks intersect and allow trains to switch lines.

Passengers onboard safely disembarked with their luggage and walked towards the platform as officials coordinated rescue and assistance measures. Arrangements were made to shift travelers to another train to ensure they reached their destinations without major delays.

Railway officials stated that the affected section is part of an ongoing modernization plan at the Pune station yard. They added that similar non standard diamond crossings across the network will be replaced in a phased manner to prevent such incidents in the future.

The swift handling of the situation helped avoid casualties, though minor disruptions to Vande Bharat services in Maharashtra are expected as authorities carry out further checks and restoration work.
