In a move aimed at speeding up housing delivery, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has decided to grant more authority to district collectors for the effective implementation of the Indiramma Houses scheme. The decision is expected to bring faster approvals, improved monitoring, and greater transparency in execution.

Addressing a review meeting with officials and public representatives from the erstwhile Nizamabad and Adilabad districts, the minister said the process of sanctioning and constructing houses would continue without interruption. He clarified that even new applicants would be considered eligible if they meet the required criteria.

Collectors have been instructed to treat the scheme as a top priority and conduct weekly reviews with housing officials. The minister noted that each Assembly constituency has been allocated 3500 houses, regardless of political affiliations, and urged elected representatives to ensure timely completion by beneficiaries.

He also directed that beneficiaries who are unable to proceed with construction should inform authorities so that the houses can be reassigned to others in need. Pending payments to those who completed initial construction stages are to be cleared immediately after verification.

The minister emphasized completing unfinished double bedroom housing units from the previous government and ensuring essential infrastructure such as water, electricity, and drainage. In urban areas facing land shortages, permission has been given to construct houses in a G plus one model with compact sizes.

Apart from housing, Ponguleti highlighted the importance of resolving land related issues through comprehensive surveys. He called for coordinated efforts among departments to settle long pending disputes and simplify processes such as sada bainama registrations, with decision making powers now given to revenue divisional officers.

He also announced plans to upgrade administrative infrastructure, including construction of new tahsildar offices and modern sub registrar offices across districts. The meeting witnessed participation from ministers, legislators, senior officials, and advisors, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening governance and public service delivery.
