Ai Plus Nova 2 Series Gets Price Hike Within Days of Launch in India
Budget 5G smartphones from Ai Plus see sudden price increase within ten days, yet continue attracting buyers with large batteries, high refresh rate displays and competitive camera features
In a move that has surprised many budget smartphone buyers, the recently launched Ai+ Nova 2 Ultra and Ai+ Nova 2 have become more expensive just days after hitting the market. The company has raised prices by up to 2000 rupees across both models, a significant jump in the entry level segment where pricing plays a crucial role.
The price revision has already taken effect on platforms such as Flipkart, confirming that the updated rates are now official. The standard Nova 2, which was initially positioned as an affordable 5G option, has moved from 8999 rupees to 10999 rupees. Meanwhile, the higher end Nova 2 Ultra has also seen a similar increase, pushing its variants into a slightly more premium bracket.
At launch, the Ultra model was offered in two configurations, with the base variant featuring 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the top variant offered 8GB RAM. With the new pricing in place, buyers now have to pay what was earlier the top variant price just to get the base model, making the decision tougher for budget conscious users.
Despite the sudden hike, both smartphones continue to draw attention due to their feature rich specifications. The Nova 2 Ultra stands out with a large AMOLED display measuring nearly 6.78 inches, offering full HD plus resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Its brightness levels are designed to ensure visibility even under strong sunlight, making it suitable for outdoor use.
Performance is another area where the Ultra model aims to deliver value. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, the device is built to handle multitasking and everyday usage with ease. Photography is supported by a 50 megapixel primary sensor from Sony, accompanied by an ultra wide lens, allowing users to capture detailed images across different scenarios.
Battery life remains a key highlight across the series. Both models are equipped with a 6000mAh battery, a feature increasingly popular among users who prioritize long lasting performance. The Ultra variant also includes fast charging support, helping reduce downtime during daily use.
On the other hand, the Nova 2 offers a slightly more modest package but still caters well to essential needs. It features a large display with a high refresh rate, a capable processor for basic tasks, and expandable storage options. Its camera setup, led by a 50 megapixel main sensor, is designed for everyday photography, while the front camera supports selfies and video calls.
