A sudden surge in demand has led to a temporary fuel shortage situation across Telangana, with petrol bunks introducing strict limits on fuel distribution to manage the rush. Long queues have been reported at several outlets as vehicle owners hurried to fill their tanks following rumours about dwindling supplies.

To control the situation, fuel stations have started rationing petrol and diesel based on vehicle type. Two wheelers are being given fuel worth only up to two hundred rupees, while four wheelers are limited to a maximum of one thousand rupees. In addition, filling fuel in bottles, cans or other containers has been completely prohibited.

Bunk operators say these measures are necessary to ensure that the available stock is distributed fairly among all customers. Even those claiming emergencies are not being given any relaxation, as the focus remains on preventing misuse and avoiding rapid depletion of supplies.

Meanwhile, state officials have urged the public not to panic, clarifying that there is no real shortage of fuel. According to them, the current situation is a result of artificial demand created by misinformation and social media rumours, which triggered panic buying.

Authorities have also issued a warning to petrol bunk owners and traders, stating that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in hoarding fuel or selling it illegally in the black market. Selling petrol in bottles has been termed a legal offence, especially due to safety risks.

Officials are working to stabilize supply and restore normalcy, advising people to purchase fuel only as needed. While the restrictions are temporary, public cooperation is seen as essential to ease the pressure on fuel stations until the situation improves.
