A fresh political controversy has surfaced around the use of the TRS name, creating complications for Kavitha’s newly launched party. Just days after she announced the formation of Telangana Rashtra Sena with the familiar TRS abbreviation, an objection has been formally raised before the Election Commission.

The complaint was submitted by Tupakula Balarangam, who identified himself as the president of Telangana Rajya Samithi. In his letter, he stated that his party had already been registered with the Election Commission in 2023 under the same TRS abbreviation, making any new registration under that name problematic.

Balarangam further explained that his party had even contested in ten constituencies during the last Assembly elections using the gas cylinder symbol. According to him, allowing another political party to register with the TRS name would cause direct political and organizational damage.

This development comes at a time when Kavitha is attempting to revive the TRS identity, which was originally associated with the party founded by K Chandrashekar Rao before it was renamed as Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Her move to reuse the TRS abbreviation has now triggered a legal and procedural challenge.

The Election Commission is expected to review both claims carefully before taking a final call, as the dispute highlights the sensitivity surrounding party names and political branding in Telangana’s evolving political landscape.
